The University of Miami convened climate experts for a three-day symposium to explore the science of predicting extreme weather events and managing associated risks within a changing climate on local and global scales. The symposium concluded with a community discussion on January 24, 2020, that highlighted the research findings and featured a keynote address, Disasters and Climate Change: The Global and the Local, by Adam Sobel, director of the Initiative on Extreme Weather and Climate at Columbia University, and a panel moderated by CNN chief climate correspondent Bill Weir.
